Nikomu w Polsce nie trzeba tłumaczyć czym jest Dzień Wszystkich Świętych.
Dodam tylko, że nie jest to dzień by się smucić...wręcz przeciwnie, Wszyscy Święci mają dziś imieniny, więc wspominajmy ich z radością...
Ludzie błędnie interpretują to święto. Dzień na zadumę i smutek po stracie bliskich przyjdzie jutro, gdyż 2 listopada jest dniem modlitwy "za duszę".
Zaduszki, święto wywodzące się z pogańskiego obrzędu Dziadów, to rzeczywiste "Święto Zmarłych", dzień w którym oddajemy hołd modląc się za bliskich, których nie ma już z nami, odwiedzamy cmentarze i zapalamy na grobach światło, które symbolizuje nieśmiertelność duszy.
Dodam tylko, że to jeden z tych dni, kiedy tęsknię najbardziej za moją ukochaną Babcią...która była wyjątkową i bardzo ważną osobą w moim życiu. Tak więc niebawem pobiegnę na cmentarz zapalić światełko, by jej dusza mogła żyć wiecznie...

November 1st and 2nd have for centuries been celebrated by Catholics world-wide and Poland has observed it with particular devotion. In a sense, both feast days have been set aside to honour those who have gone on their eternal reward. All Saints Day (1 st Nov) is the day people pray to their officially canonized patron Saints as well as honouring all those unknown and unnamed souls who have gone to Heaven. Since no mortals know what the fate of those who have "crossed over" may be, All Soul's Day (2nd Nov) has been devoted to honouring one's own dearly departed and pray to God to show mercy to the poor souls in purgatory.
All Saints day is a national holiday in Poland and the day when people all over the country visit the graves of the loved ones to place flower and candles. The special candles, which burn for many hours are placed, so that departed souls can find their way through the darkness. These candles symbolise immortality and invincibility of the soul. Cemeteries are lit by many thousands of these candles and at night they can often bee seen glowing from long distances.
I will only add that it is one of these days, when I miss my beloved Grandma the most... she was a very special person who played an important role in my life and had a big influence on the person I have become. That's why today I will run to her grave to lit the candle so that her soul can live forever...
