Naprawdę piękny film...
Dawno nie pisałam nic o kinie, z prostej przyczyny... ostatnimi czasy nie widziałam nic na tyle wartościowego i ciekawego by warto temu poświęcić post. Aż do wczoraj. Wybraliśmy się na wieczorny seans filmowy.
W induskim kinie mamy do wyboru z reguły całą masę bollywoodów oraz od czasu do czasu jakiś angielski lub "obcy" film. Naveen twierdzi, że proporcje kina zachodniego do rodzimego są pół na pół, jednak ja zaryzykuję i nie zgodzę się z nim. Moim zdaniem proporcje są w stosunku 80% do 20%, prawie jak reguła Pareto, która w tym wypadku sprawdza się niemal bezbłędnie. Mianowicie 80% bollywoodów z niemal zawsze pełna salą, finansuje 20% filmów z 12 osobami w opustoszałym kinie.
Tydzień temu w lokalnej prasie widziałam reklamę filmu "Biutiful". Moją uwagę przyciągnął Javier Bardem, którego uwielbiam, tak więc postanowiłam, że wybierzemy się do kina by zobaczyć jego najnowszą kreację. W Polsce film ten będzie można zobaczyć dopiero na przełomie maja i czerwca. Chyba pierwszy raz zdarzyło się, że do Indii dotarł szybciej :)
"Biutiful" nie jest filmem dla każdego. To kino ambitne, dla wrażliwego widza, który od seansu filmowego nie oczekuje wyłącznie wartkiej akcji oraz efektów specjalnych. To opowieść o bezwarunkowej miłości ojca do swych dzieci, zawieszona w przestrzeni ubogich dzielnic Barcelony uwikłanej w nielegalny handel, narkotyki, problemy imigracyjne i rasowe. Historia ta ukazuje, iż tak na prawdę to nie miejsca, a ludzie sprawiają, że gdzieś przynależymy lub nie. Uxbal'owi (Javier Bardem) pozostały dwa miesiące życia. Jak uporządkować w tak krótkim czasie wszystkie swoje sprawy, jak zapewnić małym jeszcze dzieciom godziwą przyszłość? Jak rozliczyć się z własnym sumieniem?
Film gra na ludzkich emocjach, czyniąc postać kreowaną przez Bardem'a, niezwykle tragiczną. Umierający na raka ojciec dwójki dzieci, przenikające się kultury, zanik międzyludzkich relacji. Odchodzenie, śmierć, samotność. Odkupienie. Najbardziej poruszającą w całym filmie jest historia dzieci oraz ich relacji z ojcem, który wiedząc, ze pozostało mu niewiele czasu zastanawia się jak przekazać swoje "dziedzictwo" i pozostać w pamięci swych dzieci.
Film startował w konkursie zeszłorocznego festiwalu w Cannes, gdzie Javier Bardem zdobył nagrodę dla najlepszego aktora. Aktor otrzymał też nominacje za tę rolę do nagrody BAFTA, a sam film był nominowany do Złotego Globu. "Biutiful" został również nominowany do Oscara w kategoriach Najlepszy Aktor i Najlepszy Film nie anglojęzyczny.
Całą historię można podsumować smutnym stwierdzeniem, że życie jest jak prostytutka, da ci to czego chcesz pod warunkiem, że za wszystko słono zapłacisz, a na koniec i tak umrzesz.

A truly beautiful movie...
I have not written anything about the cinema for a long time. Reason is very simple. I don't think I have seen something valuable and interesting lately, until yesterday.
In India, we usually have a vast choice of Bollywood movies and from time to time some good English or a foreign movie. Naveen claims that the proportion of Bollywood to foreign movies is 50/50, whereas this time I will take my chance and I will not agree. In my opinion the proportion is 80% to 20%, almost ideal example of Pareto rule. 80% of fully occupied cinema during Bollywood movie shows, finances 20% of the shows with not more than 12 viewers...
Last week, in a local newspaper I have seen an ad of a Spanish-Mexican co-production titled "Biutiful". My attention was attracted by Javier Bardem, who is a phenomenal actor and whom I really adore. That is why I though I would love to see his latest creation. In Poland this movie will be released in June, 2011. I guess first time it happened that something is available faster in India :)
"Biutiful" is a love story between a father and his children. Uxbal is a conflicted man who struggles to reconcile fatherhood, love, spirituality, crime, guilt and mortality amidst the dangerous underworld of modern Barcelona. His livelihood is earned out of bounds, his sacrifices for his children know no bounds.
Bardem, is painfully human in this role. He’s a man who loves his children and longs to do right by them. At the same time, he’s trafficking in what amounts to the slave trade of illegal workers. The demands on him are almost superhuman and he’s just one man, stumbling and failing more often than he succeeds, and suffering in the knowledge of just how short he is falling of the mark. There is great affection for his children, self-loathing at his role in the suffering of others, sorrow at the knowledge that his time for his children – already limited – has suddenly been proscribed even further by an illness that he can’t treat.
Movies too often focus on the extremes of our world – people at their best, people at their worst, people at obvious crisis points. “Biutiful” does something else, taking one man near the end of his life and showing the path he walks as he tries to get his affairs in order, despite an increasingly chaotic existence.
Javier Bardem has won best actor prize at 2010 Cannes Film Festival. He was also nominated for BAFTA award and Oscar for best actor, whereas the movie was nominated for Golden Globe and Oscar for best foreign film.
